Keep a note, PDF, image, transcript, or earlier chapter beside the manuscript. Pull a quotation from on-device transcription and it stays linked to its exact audio time. Put sensitive material in the encrypted Vault and it is absent from agent workspaces, ordinary exports, mirrors, and Spotlight.

The same trusted project can become an editor copy, ebook, print book, web article, or archive E5.

Send an idea to Inbox, then file, link, or promote it when the project is ready. Notes, backlinks, Saved Views, Project Memory, and research assets stay explicit. Supporting material never silently becomes manuscript text or source authority.

A revision tool should show its work.

See exactly why a passage is flagged, compare it against an earlier Moment or branch, and dismiss a false positive with a recorded rationale. Roono never reduces a manuscript to an opaque quality score.

Use transparent Revision Lenses, goals, project recipes, continuity checks, sourcing diagnostics, and policy packs without an opaque score deciding whether the prose is good. Dismissals and editorial decisions remain part of the project record.

Questions

Is Roono an AI writing app?

No. Roono has no built-in writing model and does not require an agent. On Mac, you can connect a supported agent using your own account or key. It receives only the context you approve, cannot see the Vault, and returns edits as proposals for review.

Can an agent edit my manuscript?

Not directly. Agent changes land on a separate proposal branch. You decide what to accept, reject, or split before anything reaches the active draft.

What happens to my old drafts?

Every save creates an immutable Moment. You can browse, compare, branch, merge, and restore without physically deleting the history.

Does Roono need an account or subscription?

Roono is a $50 one-time Direct purchase, not a subscription. It includes one year of upgrades. After that, keep using your current version until it is deprecated or purchase a $30 upgrade entitlement for a newer version. Roono does not charge an AI subscription; any agent subscription or API billing belongs to the provider you choose.

Can I publish a book as well as an article?

Yes. Compile Recipes and Production Profiles can produce editor, ebook, print, large-print, web, fact-check, and archive editions from one project. Available outputs include Markdown, plain text, DOCX, PDF, HTML, and EPUB.

Is Roono available on Windows or the web?

No. The current release is native to Mac. iPhone and iPad are deferred; Windows and web are not planned for this release.
